Summary

Three scored books, one per board, class 9, all English-medium — and the sharpest curricular divergence in the entire corpus. Sindh's and KP's are the same eight-chapter book: fundamentals of chemistry, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, physical states, solutions, electrochemistry, chemical reactivity, identical in title and in order, and the convergence runs below title level to shared section headings, with both boards' section 4.1 reading "Why do atoms form chemical Bonds?" and both section 8.1 reading "Metals". A normalised text-overlap test found the prose is not verbatim-shared, so this is architectural convergence on National Curriculum 2006 rather than copying.

Punjab, on SNC 2022 and the revised 2023 curriculum, has thirteen chapters. It adds Stoichiometry, Energetics, Equilibria, Hydrocarbons and Environmental Chemistry, plus two explicitly methodological chapters — Empirical Data Collection and Analysis, and Laboratory and Practical Skills — and drops Electrochemistry, which is a full chapter in both other boards. This produces the corpus's clearest structural trade-off: Punjab gives about thirteen pages per chapter across thirteen chapters, KP about thirty across eight, with Sindh between. Punjab is broad and thin; KP is narrow and thick.

Chemistry is the one science subject in which no board puts scripture in the book. Punjab's A1 of 1 rests on a bismillah and a single "Allah" token in 192 pages. Sindh's 2 and KP's 2 both cover a history-of-science strand and nothing devotional: Sindh's learning outcome "Explain the contribution of Muslim scientists in the development of chemistry" with a Jabir ibn Hayyan credit table, and KP's section on the Muslim period from 600 to 1600 AD, "generally called the period of 'Al-Chemists' in the history of chemistry". No verse appears in any of the three.

Climate coverage splits along the same line as everything else in the sciences. Punjab's Environmental Chemistry chapter is the densest climate treatment anywhere in the corpus, listing mitigation measures directly; Sindh Chemistry 9 and KP Chemistry 9 mention climate change zero times each.

The gender result is the corpus's extreme and it is worth stating precisely. Punjab's volume contains zero female-marked tokens in 49,217 words and Sindh's zero in 42,021 — two of only five English-medium files in the whole corpus with none at all, and after an element-symbol correction that removes helium's "He" from the male count. KP's contains the corpus's only named woman scientist, and only as the answer to a naming puzzle: "Cm is the chemical symbol for curium, named after the famous scientist Madam Curie. Why wasn't the symbol C, Cu or Cr used instead?" Marie Curie never appears as a scientist who did something, which is why KP's A7 stays at 5 despite the mention.

The evidence here is thin by design and should be described as thin. Only A1 and A7 were assigned to these three books; no other axis was assessed, and for Punjab's volume the social lenses recorded nothing further at all. Absent besides women: careers sections and web links in Sindh, climate content in Sindh and KP, and any province-specific in-content localisation in any of the three. Class-10 Chemistry from Punjab and KP has since entered the corpus unscored, Punjab's under the new 2026 PECTAA syllabus. Confidence is high on the counts themselves, with two mechanical cautions — KP's contents page did not survive OCR, so its chapter list was rebuilt from section numbering, and formulas, equations and subscripts were never compared because OCR destroys them. A newer 2026 Urdu-medium Sindh edition of this cell also exists that the English copy held here is behind.
