Overview / Compare / Mutalea Quran, class 9

Mutalea Quran, class 9

2 boards, 2 books. These books are not of the same curriculum generation — see the vintage note below.

Vintage warning. This cell compares National Curriculum 2006 against SNC 2022. A difference here may reflect the decade the book was written in rather than provincial policy. The defensible reading is "what each board is currently printing", not "what each province believes".

What the difference amounts to

Two boards require a separate Quranic-studies volume at class 9 on top of Islamiyat, and the fact that only two do is the finding. KP's runs 245 pages and Punjab's 222. For a KP pupil that sits alongside a 126-page Islamiyat, making 371 pages of compulsory religious instruction in a single year against Punjab's 170 and Sindh's 176 — roughly double either, before a word of it is taught. Sindh, Balochistan and the Federal Board set no such volume at all, so for their pupils this cell is empty rather than light. Both books score 3 on register: a Quranic study text in a devotional and ritual mode, in-tradition, teaching recitation, memorisation and exegesis rather than argument about the text. That is what the subject is for, and the score records the register rather than passing judgment on it. The load, not the content, is what separates the boards here. Both volumes are Urdu-medium and were read at theme grade. Punjab's has no extracted text in the corpus at all — it is catalogued, its length and edition are verified from the volume itself, and its interior has not been machine-read. That is a genuine gap rather than a judgment, and it is why nothing in this cell is quoted and why the Punjab side rests on structure and page count alone.

Mutalea Quran 9 KPK (245pp)Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The book that makes KP structurally unlike the other two boards. Mutalea-e-Quran is a second compulsory religious subject taken alongside Islamiyat, with no counterpart in Punjab or Sindh, and at 245 pages it is the largest single religious volume in the corpus. Together with the combined Islamiat Lazmi it means a KP c… full analysis →
