Overview / Compare / Islamiyat, class 10

Islamiyat, class 10

3 boards, 3 books. These books are not of the same curriculum generation — see the vintage note below.

Vintage warning. This cell compares National Curriculum 2006 against Single National Curriculum (federal) against SNC 2023-24. A difference here may reflect the decade the book was written in rather than provincial policy. The defensible reading is "what each board is currently printing", not "what each province believes".

All axes run 1–5, where 1 is the secular/pluralist/open pole. A dot means that lens did not score that book. See the method.

What the difference amounts to

Three boards, and the striking figure is length. Balochistan's Islamiyat 10 is 73 pages; Punjab's is 113 and the Federal Board's is 170 — more than twice Balochistan's. That is a decision about how much compulsory religious instruction a matriculation year contains, taken at the level of the scheme of studies rather than in the writing, and it belongs beside the study's separate finding that KP requires 371 pages of it at class 9 against Punjab's 170. On register all three score the same. Islamiyat is religious by definition, so the axis that applies here is not how much religion the book contains but what kind: each scores 3, a devotional and ritual register, in-tradition and instructional rather than comparative or apologetic. None of the three carries the doctrinal-supremacy language the study records in Sindh's Islamiyat 9–10, and none carries a jihad chapter of the kind Punjab's class-9 volume runs. All three books are Urdu-medium. Nastaliq is not reliably machine-readable, so these volumes were read at theme grade — the structure, the lesson sequence and the subject of each chapter are recoverable, and the wording is not. Nothing in this cell is quoted for that reason, and the scores here rest on what the books are organised to teach rather than on any sentence in them. That limit is real and is recorded rather than worked around; it is the same limit that applies to every Urdu-medium volume in the corpus.
