Overview / Compare / General Science, class 6
General Science, class 6
4 boards, 4 books. These books are not of the same curriculum generation — see the vintage note below.
Vintage warning. This cell compares National Curriculum 2022-23 against National Curriculum 2006 against SNC 2022. A difference here may reflect the decade the book was written in rather than provincial policy. The defensible reading is "what each board is currently printing", not "what each province believes".

What the difference amounts to
This cell cannot be compared three ways and the honest statement is that it is a two-board comparison. Sindh publishes no English-medium General Science 6 at any price — only Urdu (id 115) and Sindhi (id 122), both 2020-21 — and the 168-page Urdu extraction could not be theme-graded at all: a search for the chapter marker returns nine scattered hits that resolve into no structure, so its A1 of 1 and A7 of 5 are placeholders scored by analogy and should be read as not established. What can be said is that Punjab and KP both teach the subject and teach different versions of it. Punjab's twelve SNC-2022 chapters run from Cells and Tissues to Our Solar System and include the board's signature Technology in Everyday Life chapter, which recurs at classes 7 and 8 and appears in no other board at any grade; the volume also carries a "Teacher Guide" apparatus with 32 callouts embedding teaching notes on the pupil's page, which neither other board has. KP's twelve 2006-curriculum chapters alone give Sense Organs and Simple Machines chapters of their own. The two overlap on cells, matter and atoms, solutions, energy, light and space. Both are near-secular: Punjab A1 2 on a bismillah plus one aside, "Plants are great blessings of Allah Almighty" (PAGE 137); KP A1 2 on a single credit that Al-Haitham invented the pinhole camera. Both score A7 5 on countable absence — two female tokens in 35,755 words in Punjab, five in 24,506 in KP. The clearest divergence is pedagogical: KP records only five numbered activities against dozens in Punjab, a demonstration-led rather than inquiry-led design. On the province where a third of Pakistani children live, this study can say nothing about class-6 science, because the only book Sindh prints could not be read.
The books in this comparison
General Science - Grade 6 — Balochistan
General Science 6 KPK — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
A 163-page National Curriculum 2006 general science text whose twelve chapters had to be reconstructed from figure numbering and learning-outcome openers because the contents page did not survive OCR. It is one of the least eventful books in the corpus for social analysis: the only religious touch anywhere is a one-lin… full analysis →
General Science SNC 2023-24 Class 6 — Punjab
A twelve-chapter SNC-2022 general science volume whose contents list had to be reconstructed from the learning-outcome pages (openers at pp.7, 24, 35, 47, 57, 70, 84, 101, 114, 123, 131, 139), running from Cells and Tissues to Our Solar System. Its Punjab-only fixture is a Technology in Everyday Life chapter, which rec… full analysis →
Science VI (2020-21, Urdu-only) — Sindh
Sindh's only class-6 science title is Urdu-medium; STBB publishes no English edition of this cell. The 168-page extraction could not be theme-graded at all — the chapter marker returns nine scattered hits that resolve into no structure — so it is excluded from every cross-board comparison. Its A1 of 1 and A7 of 5 are p… full analysis →
